Dr. Arpita Patel-Mehta is a dedicated and experienced family physician with over two decades of medical practice, teaching, and leadership. She currently serves as the Discipline Chair and Education Director of Family and Preventive Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University’s Chicago Medical School, where she plays a key role in shaping the curriculum and training the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Since 2008, Dr. Patel-Mehta has been practicing at Advocate Aurora Health, bringing extensive expertise in patient care, medical education, and community health. Her career has spanned private practice, faculty positions, and leadership roles, making her a versatile and compassionate healthcare provider.

Dr. Patel-Mehta earned her Doctor of Medicine from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1995, followed by a Family Practice Residency at West Suburban Hospital Family Practice Residency Program. She further enhanced her medical expertise by pursuing a Master of Public Health at George Washington University, where she developed a focus on community health and prevention.

Her previous roles include serving as a faculty member in Family Practice Residency Programs at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and Georgetown University Medical Center. At Georgetown, Dr. Patel-Mehta directed the Division of Community Projects and Research and the Fellowship in Community Health Center Director Development, demonstrating her commitment to advancing healthcare in underserved communities.

As the medical director at the Washington Free Clinic, she provided vital care to vulnerable populations, and her passion for service is evident throughout her career. Dr. Patel-Mehta has held academic positions, including Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Georgetown University, George Washington University and Northwestern University, where she played a key role in mentoring and training future healthcare professionals.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Patel-Mehta has contributed to healthcare system improvements through her teaching on Clinician-Patient Communication and Epic training for physicians at Advocate Aurora Health. Her ability to bridge clinical excellence with effective communication has enhanced the patient experience and improved care outcomes.

Fluent in Spanish and Gujarati, Dr. Patel-Mehta is committed to culturally competent care, ensuring she can connect with diverse patient populations. Her passion for public health, education, and patient-centered care continues to drive her work as a family physician and leader in healthcare.

She enjoys staying active through exercise, experimenting with new recipes, savoring great food, watching sports, and spending quality time with family and friends.
